Brazil. Trane received two prizes in the 24º Highlights of the Year Smacna Brasil - 2016. The award highlights important projects in the area of HVAC, and the company was recognized in two of them.
The headquarters of Sabin Laboratory - Diagnostic Medicine, located in the city of Brasília (DF), has 14.000m & sup2; of constructed area and the Operational Technical Nucleus (NTO) has productive capacity installed to perform five million tests per month. The building was built with the concept of green buildings, has the international LEED certification (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) in the Gold level, and required an air conditioning and mechanical ventilation system that would provide air conditioning from the laboratory to the ensure energy efficiency and operational safety.
Through the integration of the entire HVAC automation system, the Sabin Laboratory adds several Trane technologies ranging from ice water, VRF system to variable airflow system. The company Almeida France Engineering, responsible for the installation of HVAC systems of the work, opted for the use of chillers air-condensing screws with 165 and 170 tons of cooling. In addition, two air conditioners; Fancoils Wave Double (13 units); VAVs (variable air volume) models Trane VCCF (53 units); HFCF chips (76 units); three DXPA systems with TRAE capacitors); the TVR II system (nine condensers and 12 evaporators), and the Trane Tracer SC automation system. The completion of the system installation and Trane automation at Sabin Lab took place in December of 2016.
In the second award-winning project, Jaguar Land Rover, located in the city of Itatiaia (RJ), Ergo Engenharia chose to install a Condensate Collection System, which collects the condensation water from the fancoils of the Engine Room and directed towards the cooling towers to guarantee energy efficiency of the work. In addition, the Thermoaccumulation Tank complements the thermal load for critical units and replaces the chillers in peak electricity charging schedules, providing a considerable reduction in energy costs.
The entire HVAC system was designed to meet the requirements of LEED Gold certification and, in relation to Indoor Air Quality (QAI), the air renewal rate for offices is above that recommended by the NBR and ASHRAE. For the air-conditioning of the entire product testing area produced by the factory, Trane provided two 140 TR air-cooled chillers. The dining rooms, offices and manufacturing areas, have two chillers with condensation to the water of 417 TR to airtize each space.
