International. ASHRAE announced the launch of a website to encourage the advancement of refrigeration technology and its application.
The new Refrigeration website, called "R" in ASHRAE, highlights the Society's commitment to supporting the role of refrigeration worldwide. The website contains information on resources and publications on refrigeration and refrigerants, such as standards, design guides, ASHRAE courses and more.
During her tenure, ASHRAE President 2018-2019, Sheila J. Hayter, PE, appointed the Regional Director of ASHRAE IX and Regional President Trent Hunt to oversee a Task Force on the Refrigeration Board. One of the primary results of this group of tasks was the launch of the cooling page.
"ASHRAE has a long history of supporting research and refrigeration technology," said Hayter. "This page incorporates ASHRAE's past in refrigeration, while keeping visitors abreast of our current goals and leading the conversation about the future of refrigeration, and we are confident that this page will be a powerful resource for industry professionals and equally for the general public. "
Additional features of the website include:
- Approval of ASHRAE for conferences and events on refrigeration and refrigerants.
- Refrigerant designations.
- Interviews with members in the field of refrigeration.
- Research and news on topics related to refrigeration.
Recently, ASHRAE and the International Refrigeration Institute (IIR) announced the establishment of new definitions for five keywords of refrigeration, further highlighting the importance of the refrigeration process for the health, comfort and well-being of humanity.
